Pisanello

Pisanello's famous Arthurian cycle of frescoes in the Ducal Palace of Mantua depicts the episode of the tournament organized by King Brangoire at the castle of Marca. The king has gathered one hundred knights and many damsels. The bravest knight will marry the king's daughter. Bohort, Lancelot's cousin and one of the most important knights of the Round Table, demonstrates great valour and the participating ladies declare him champion of the day. In addition to the frescoes, this gallery includes preparatory drawings, medals, and fragments of detached frescoes.
