Fidenza, Duomo (Cathedral of San Donnino), right tower (Trabucco Tower), southern side: frieze composed of six panels with “The Procession of Charlemagne returning to France after having freed Rome from the Saracens”. This interpretation is supported by the panel depicting a knight holding the bridle of a horse with a cheetah on its back that the emperor used for hunting. It has been interpreted in the past as the depiction of pilgrims on the road to Rome (to the point of becoming one of the symbolic icons of the Via Francigena).
