Palazzo Schifanoia, north wall, month of September: above the "Triumph of Vulcan", September is traditionally devoted to the mechanical arts. The protagonist of the first scene is therefore Vulcan, whose triumph is evoked by the chariot pulled by monkeys. On the left, the scene is dominated by the Cyclopes intent on creating the god's weapons and Aeneas' shield adorned with the representation of the she-wolf suckling Romulus and Remus.
