Palazzo Schifanoia, north wall, month of July: "the sign of Leo"; the astrological band opens on the left with a figure wearing a cassock sitting on a tree, a reference to the constellation of Hydra and the related myth. It follows the zodiac sign of Leo with the second decan above it, derived, like the previous one, from the Indian sphere of Albumasar, and identifiable with Regulus, as the presence of the myrtle and the arrow seem to testify. This portion of the fresco ends with a truculent figure feeding on meat identified by scholars as Bootes, guardian of the constellation Ursa.Frescoes attributed to Ercole de' Roberti or to the so-called wide-eyed Master (1468-1470).
