Medici Riccardi Palace, Gallery of Mirrors (or Room Luca Giordano): “Minerva protectress of the Arts and Sciences”, detail of the vault. Frescoes by Luca Giordano, 1682 - 1685.Through the image of Minerva (Wisdom) and Mercury (Reason), man's maturity is highlighted. The goddess, in the centre, leaves her weapons to a putto, offers the key (heraldic symbol of the Riccardi) to Ingenuity (accompanied by naked Truth) and a hammer to Artifice and Industry. The god, instead, offers her a caduceus and a golden trumpet.
