Palazzo Schifanoia, north wall, month of July: above the “Triumph of Jupiter and Cybele”. He sits on the chariot with Cybele to protect the month of Leo, as Manilius prescribes in the Astronomica. In the background on the right Attis is represented, whose myth is linked to that of Cybele who, driven mad by Agdistis, castrated himself under a pine tree and bled to death. The marriage depicted on the left has instead been interpreted as a reference to the union of Borso's sister, Bianca, with Galeotto della Mirandola in 1468.Frescoes attributed to Ercole de' Roberti or to the so-called wide-eyed Master (1468-1470).
